Logo and Illustrations for a Blog

Overview

I designed branding elements for Miss Diagnoses, a blog about living with chronic illness. The owner of the blog asked me to design a logo that would convey both the uncertainty that often surrounds chronic conditions and the wackiness that suffuses her personality. The latter would also add a light touch to a serious subject and make the blog more appealing.

In addition to creating the logo, I illustrated header images for a series of posts by “spoonie” guest artists. In spoon theory, a spoon represents a unit of a person’s physical and mental energy. Individuals with chronic ailments have to plan their activities carefully so that they don’t run out of spoons in any given time period. I used Adobe Illustrator to draw the spoon and Adobe After Effects to curve the artists’ names in 3D space.
